Cookie Canvas – Manifesto of a New Artistic Language
Every artistic language is born the moment someone chooses to look at a material through new eyes.
Throughout the history of art, materials once considered ordinary have become powerful means of expression: stone, wood, paper, glass, metal, photography, textiles, and many others have gradually expanded the very concept of what an artwork can be.
Cookie Canvas was created to explore a new possibility: Royal Icing as an artistic medium.
Its purpose is not to redefine the meaning of the decorated cookie, nor to attribute artistic value to every creation made with royal icing.
The Vision
Cookie Canvas invites reflection on the possibility that Royal Icing, when used with artistic intent, technical research, and expressive purpose, can evolve into an authentic language of contemporary art.
Within this project, the cookie is not the artwork itself, but its support.
Like a canvas for a painter or marble for a sculptor, it becomes the surface upon which the material takes shape and communicates an idea, a story, or an emotion.
A Cultural Project
For this reason, Cookie Canvas is not simply an exhibition.
It is a cultural project.
It is a space for artistic research.
It is a continuously evolving archive dedicated to exploring the expressive possibilities of Royal Icing.
Each edition brings together artists from different backgrounds, inviting them to interpret a shared theme through their own visual language, where technique, composition, color, and storytelling come together.
The works are presented not as decorative confectionery, but as evidence of a creative journey that employs an unconventional material to develop meaningful artistic reflection.
The Origins
The first venue of Cookie Canvas edition 2025-2026, hosted at the Aurum – Fabbrica delle Idee in Pescara, marked the beginning of this journey and coincided with the official launch of DolceFlo Cookie Planet, an association established to promote Royal Icing through cultural, educational, exhibition, and research activities.
